The Louis Armstrong House Museum gives back to the arts community in the form of a fellowship for students at historically Black colleges and universities studying Black history, art, library studies, music and the humanities. Fellows will become entrenched in the museum’s day-to-day operations as they get hands-on learning about the musician himself, jazz music, arts philanthropy, culture and more. Providing a powerful entree into New York City’s arts society, fellows will make valuable connections and network in addition to work experience.
Some of Louis Armstrong’s most famous compositions were “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” “What a Wonderful World,” “When the Saints Go Marching In,” “Hello, Dolly!” and many more. While these songs are decades old, Armstrong’s music is introduced to a new generation of fans through samples of his music in popular music. From The Fugees, Art of Noise, Raekwon, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sly and the Family Stone, and many more, Louis’s music continues to influence and innovate.
